San Beda Red Lions’ New Team Manager

San Beda Red Lions has a new Team Manager and his name is Jude Roque.

For those of you who doesn’t know Jude Roque, he is one of the architect of the season 82 San Beda championship where in they ended their 28 years drought. He is also the author of San Beda championship book, “Time To Roar”, wherein he talks about the historical championship of the Red Lions – Ended 28 at 82. He is also the assistant coach of the Smart Gilas Team and a sportswriter.

During his college days in San Beda College, he is one of the editor of the campus newspaper “The Bedan”

With this said reputation and credibility, he is the perfect man to replace former San Beda Team Manager Mike Advani, so as a Bedan myself, I am happy and proud that you will manage the Red Lions and welcome back to the Lion’s Den.

Go San Beda Fight!

Eric Gordon Agrees To Sign A Maximum Deal For Phoenix Suns

Report just came in that Free Agent Eric Gordon agrees to sign with Phoenix Suns for a maximum deal of $58 million for four years contract.

Gordon went to Phoenix last Tuesday to meet the Phoenix Suns executives and he told the Press that he had a warm welcome from the whole Phoenix Suns organization. According to him “My heart now belongs to Phoenix and I hope that New Orleans won’t match that offer”. He is very certain that he will go where the money is.

This ends a good week for the New Orleans franchise because they started strong during the 2012 NBA Draft as they drafted the #1 pick Anthony Davis from Kentucky and #10 pick Austin Rivers from Duke University and he is famous for being the son of Boston Celtics’ coach Doc Rivers.

New Orleans’ coaching staff is trying to build their franchise by drafting two great rookies from college and surround Eric Gordon with young talents with the hopes that they can have their own Big 3 that consists of Davis, Rivers and Gordon and it seems like that the New Orleans franchise will rely on their draft picks and hoping that the chemistry will work, but of course, this rebuilding dreams will still continue if they can match the Suns’ offer to Gordon.

I know that Gordon is a good player and a potential All Star averaging 18.2 points per game last season but I don’t think he is good enough to have a maximum deal from any team. He is also prone to injuries which is pretty obvious last season and I don’t think, he has the heart to lead Phoenix Suns to at least a playoff spot especially now that Steve Nash is also a free agent and many teams are offering him a good deal for him to consider. Gordon is not that type of player to fill Steve Nash’s shoes or at least lead the team for years to come.

Bad move for Phoenix Suns, IMO.

Orlando Magic Is Offering Dwight Howard To The Los Angeles Lakers

Magic’s Dwight Howard is really want to be out in Orlando this summer and he wants and he wants to don a news uniform this coming 2012-13 season and two big teams are making their way to get Howard and one of them is Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers is offering their top center, Andrew Bynum in exchange for Dwight Howard but Orlando Magic’s GM Rob Hennigan wants Metta World Peace in the package.

Here are some Twitter update:

We all know that Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum are two of the best centers in the NBA right now as they are both All Star material with their powerful offensive skills and superb defensive prowess however, they are both injury prone player (which I think is common in big men nowadays), so I think, it is still a fair deal for both teams even if Lakers will give up Metta World Peace.

No news on Pau Gasol for now but if ever the Lakers will acquire Dwight Howard, it is a scary twin tower and opposing teams should take this seriously.

What can you say about this one?
In free agent news, Lakers is also targeting Steve Nash from the free agent pool but no update yet on whether Steve Nash will accept this or if he will stay in Phoenix or go to Dallas.

So do you think Kobe Bryant would want Howard to be his teammate or he will just make him a blame target also?

Sixteen Finalists For USA Men Basketball Team

Here are the 16 finalists for USA Men Basketball Team that will compete for London Olympics.

They are Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks), Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers), Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers), Tyson Chandler (New York Knicks), Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder), Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies), Eric Gordon (New Orleans Hornets), James Harden (Oklahoma City Thunder), Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia Sixers), LeBron James (Miami Heat), Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves), Lamar Odom (released by Dallas Mavericks), Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers), Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder), Deron Williams (Brooklyn Nets) and the number 1 pick of 2012 NBA Draft, Anthony Davis (New Orleans Hornets).

No Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in the line-up because they are all suffering with injuries.

Out of this sixteen players, only 12 will make it to the final line-up and 4 players will be on reserved roster. No final announcements yet but if you’re going to ask me, I will choose to cut Lamar Odom, Anthony Davis, Deron Williams and James Harden.

Why? First, Lamar Odom, he hasn’t play any professional basketball for a long time as we was released by Dallas Mavericks and no teams hired him. Even if he is still in the Mavs’ line-up, he is not playing, not even attending practices and his excuse is just family matter. I don’t think this kind of player will fit the USA Basketball Team given his work ethics and he thinks that he is a celebrity now and not a basketball player anymore.

Then Anthony Davis, I know he is a good defensive players and a great shot blocker, where? In college. He hasn’t proved anything yet in the big leagues and Olympic basketball is a no push over tournament. You will play with mostly towering European players who can shoot outside and play low post and I don’t think, he is ready for the Olympic games yet, maybe on 2016.

Deron Williams, they already have 3 point guards in their 16 finalist line-ups and I don’t think having 3 point guards in the finals roster is good for the Team USA. Chris Paul is a sure thing to make it out of the 3 PG’s because of his offensive skills and capability to pressure the opponent’s PG because of his steal attribute so I have to decide between Russell Westbrook and Deron Williams. According the David Stern, NBA is planning to have an under 23 years old line up in their next Olympic campaign and Russell Westbrook is included in that propose under-23 line up so giving him a chance to play for this year’s Olympics will hone his skills orchestrate the plays of the future USA Basketball Team so I decided to let go Deron Williams. I know he is a good PG but his attitude is really questionable (remember his feud with his former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan?) and he is also a Free Agent this summer and I don’t think, he will be more focus for this Olympics.

Lastly, James Harden. He is a good basketball player but not as good to qualify for the Olympics. He can only score by penetrating to the left side of the basket and by shooting threes and he is not that consistent player and he proved it during the NBA Finals. He has no defensive skills as well.

The final line up is expected to announce next month and I really don’t understand why Rajon Rondo is not included in the 16 finalists? He is a pure point guard in my own opinion who can easily dish out an assists to superstars like Kobe, LeBron and KD and he can help the big men to operate under the paint. For me, I’d rather have Rondo play the point guard position together with Chris Paul rather than having Russell Westbrook and Deron Williams in the line up.

How about you? Who do you think are the four players who won’t make it to the finals roster of the USA Men Basketball Team?
